Project 'Geographic variability of the effect of extreme heat episodes on mortality in Catalonia. The case of Summer 2022'

This project aims to analyse the geographical variability of the effect of extreme heat episodes on mortality in Catalonia, particularly in the summer of 2022, as well as to estimate what part of the excess can be attributed to extreme heat, direct and indirect effects of COVID-19 and other causes, particularly during 2022.

The COVID-19 epidemic was declared by the WHO a public health emergency of international concern on January 30, 2020. Since then, I have worked with other researchers to understand the magnitude and characteristics of it and its socioeconomic and environmental evolution, as well as the prevalence of its infection.

ALS is a devastating disease that currently has no cure. ALS research in the field of epidemiology is still scarce today and, in part, this has contributed to the fact that it is one of my main lines of research in the field of clinical epidemiology.
